Our Eceni ancestors enjoyed vast lands, huge herds of horses, cattle and sheep, were guarded and shepherded.

Our Tribal lands have vanished forever. The tiny paddocks we have can only support a very few head of sheep. The lighter coloured Manx Loaghtan, and darker Hebridean are typical of the small horned rangey sheep of the iron age.

Chickens, like sheep, were smaller and faster than todays modern breeds.

When we moved onto the site, rabbits and rats ruled, Our cat Meg (the best cat in the world) soon cleaned up and it is fair to say that without her we could not open to the public. The Eceni had a cat goddess, Moggons. Anyone who uses grain and keeps livestock, MUST keep a cat, Good Old Moggy !
