Kitchen

|
The kitchen is centred around the hearth, although we cook outside as much as possible. Food seems to taste better outdoors. Cauldron cookery is the usual method, seething or boiling foods in a pot of some sort, either made of iron, bronze or ceramic. Baking is done in a clay oven. When the oven is heated really hot. bread is baked. After the bread is done, the oven retains enough heat within the thick clay walls to bake pies and pasties. A spit is used to roast meat, fowl or fish.
